Through his Intimate Nature photographs and Wonders of Nature videotapes, Jerry Turner captures unique images that show subjects more clearly and intimately than can be seen with the naked eye. Throughout his life, Jerry has inspired others to share his appreciation of the natural world-first as a biology teacher and later as a nature photographer.
Growing up on a farm in middle Georgia, Jerry developed an early interest in wildlife and photography. The local fields, ponds, and woods were his favorite places to explore and record with his camera. He studied biology in college and after gradutation began teaching ecology and biology in middle school. During his years teaching, Jerry put his love of nature and photography together to supplement learning with slide presentations and 8mm movies shot through the microscope. In the mid 1980's, Jerry decided to devote himself full time to photography. Although no longer in the classroom, Jerry is still an educator.
Jerry's goal is to have his work stimulate interest in and understanding of the importance of ecology as well as appreciation for the beauty of the natural world. |
